Freedom fighter, senior political leader and former MLA Chennamaneni Rajeswara Rao passed away in the early hours on Monday. He was 95. He had been suffering from illness since a long time. He took his last breath in Yashodha Hospital at Somajiguda in Hyderabad at around 5 am today.
Chennamaneni Rajeshwara Rao hailed from Marupaka village in Vemulawada Mandal of Karimnagar district in Telangana. He was of the most prominent Communist leaders of the Telangana armed struggle, which took place against the Nizam of Hyderabad during 1946 -1951. He was elected 5 times as an MLA from Sircilla Assembly Constituency and once from Metpalli Constituency. Chennamaneni began his political life as a Communist leader and joined TDP in 1994.
His son Chennamaneni Ramesh is the present MLA of Vemulawada. His brother Vidyasagar Rao is a BJP leader and is currently the Governor of Maharashtra.
