Heavy rains coupled with strong wind gusts lashed Hyderabad in the early morning hours of Friday.
Most parts of the city were hit by the showers and rain was reported to be heavy in some areas. In most areas, the road corridors remained inundated with water affecting the movement of vehicles. Traffic jams were reported in several arterial roads during the early hours of the day.
The waterlogging, however, subsided later in the day.Though the rain brought much-need relief to the residents from severe heatwaves, power cuts were reported in several parts of the city during the early hours of the day.
Due to Strong winds power poles, trees, hoardings collapsed at various places.
The power cuts were reported in several parts of the city . Miyapur, Madhapur, rayadurgam, Gachibowli, lbnagar, MVC, Ameerpet, kukatpally, Hayat Nagar, Charminar places heavy rain was recorded.
B Janardhan Reddy, Commissioner and Special Officer of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) said most of the low-lying areas in the city have been inundated with rain water and added that GHMC officials were undertaking relief measures. According to Reddy, power supply will be restored by afternoon.
More than a hundred billboards came crashing down in Hyderabad due to heavy rains accompanied by strong winds.
Heavy rains were also reported across Andhra Pradesh.
