Congress party’s central leadership has deputed AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh to Hyderabad on Wednesday to chair the Telangana Pradesh Congress Coordination Committee meeting to deliberate on the spate of defections that have taken place in recent times, including that of Nalgonda MP Gutha Sukhender Reddy and others.
There was hectic activity in the party in New Delhi as well as Hyderabad. The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy rushed to New Delhi to meet AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi and Mr. Digvijay Singh. After the meeting, it is understood that the proposed Coordination Committee meeting slated sometime this week was advanced to Wednesday.
Mr. Reddy is stated to have given a report on the latest political developments in the State, particularly defections of party’s elected representatives. Sources said the high command was not pleased with the state of affairs in the Congress party and deputed Mr. Singh to deliberate at length the reasons for spate of defections.
