Doctors who examined the Kapu Nadu leader, Mudragada Padmanabham, whose fast-unto-death stir entered ninth day today, advised him in the evening to call off the stir as his health condition is fast deteriorating and causing anxiety with the pulse rate falling alarmingly.
Doctors said that though Mr Mudragada agreed for taking blood samples and other tests, he did not permit them to administer IV fluids which he discontinued since early hours. He had been firm on his demand that all the 13 arrested in the Tuni violence incidents, should be released and produced before him for calling off the stir.
Meanwhile, as against the total of 13 arrested and lodged in Rajahmundry central jail , in connection with the January 31 Tuni Kapu Garjana violence cases, only four applied for Bail in Pithapuram court today and the judge has posted the bail petitions for hearing tomorrow.
The situation continues to be tense all over the East Godavari district with the Kapus including womenfolk taking out protest rallies, rasta-rokos and dharnas in violation of the prohibitory orders in support of Mudragada and police dispersing them.
